FRC Team 7174 - Charger Robotics is the FIRST Robotics Competition team representing Crestwood High School in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. Established in October 2017 as The ProtoBots, our team was the culmination of years of dedication to bringing a high school robotics program to our district, which has been involved with FIRST since 1999 through our FIRST Lego League team, FIRST Contact.
In our inaugural year, we proudly launched both an FRC and an FTC team, marking a significant milestone in our school's STEM journey. The founding members, who graduated in 2021, laid a strong foundation that continues to support our growth and success. To better align with our school's identity, we rebranded as Charger Robotics in our fifth season, embracing the spirit of the Crestwood Chargers.
Our team has grown not only in numbers but also in diversity. From an initial group of 17 members with one female participant, we've expanded to 28 members, including nine girls, reflecting our commitment to inclusivity and representation in STEM. Even during the challenges of the COVID-19 virtual season, we remained actively engaged, participating in all available FIRST challenges.
As we continue to "charge on," we remain committed to fostering innovation, promoting STEM education, and making a positive impact in our community.
Charger Robotics’ mission is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.
